Site Manager wanted with Earthworks experience

BCS Connect are seeking an experienced Site Manager for our client with a strong background in earthworks to join an ongoing project in the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and capable individual to take ownership of site operations on a freelance basis, with strong potential to develop into a long-term permanent position for the right candidate.

Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The role will involve overseeing earthworks, land remediation, site preparation, and associated civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management and coordination of all site operations
  • Supervision of site teams, subcontractors, and plant operatives
  • Ensuring works are carried out in line with project specifications, drawings, and programme requirements
  • Management of earthworks including cut and fill operations, grading, and site preparation
  • Overseeing land remediation activities and ensuring compliance with environmental requirements
  • Strict adherence to health & safety legislation and company procedures at all times
  • Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety briefings
  • Maintaining accurate site records including diaries, progress reports, and RAMS documentation
  • Liaising with project managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders on a daily basis
  • Monitoring progress against programme and assisting with planning and sequencing of works
  • Managing plant, labour, and materials to ensure efficient site delivery
  • Identifying and resolving on-site issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensuring high standards of quality control throughout all stages of the project

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within earthworks and civil engineering
  • Strong background in land remediation and site preparation
  • NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) in Construction Site Management
  • Valid SMSTS certificate or CSCS Black/Management Card
  • Strong IT literacy (reporting, email, site management systems)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and workloads effectively
  • Strong understanding of construction health & safety regulations

Pay
£300 to £350 Per Day dependant on experience
