Site Enginer wanted - Bristol (river diversion project)

BCS Connect are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major civil engineering project in Bristol. This long-term opportunity will see you working on a significant river diversion scheme being delivered across five separate locations throughout Bristol.

The project includes a wide range of civil engineering works, including river diversions, embankment construction, culverts, drainage installations, setting out levels, earthworks, and associated infrastructure works. Due to the nature of the project, we are looking for candidates with previous experience in similar water, environmental, highways, or heavy civils schemes, although engineers with a strong general civils background will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-structured project from an early stage and play a key role in its successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out accurate setting out for all aspects of the works.
  • Operate and manage Leica TS16 surveying equipment.
  • Set out and monitor river diversion channels, embankments, culverts, drainage systems, and earthworks.
  • Establish and maintain site control points and level networks.
  • Carry out level surveys and volume calculations where required.
  • Produce and maintain accurate as-built records.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and design information.
  • Utilise AutoCAD to review and work from project drawings.
  • Assist with quality assurance and ensure works are completed to specification and tolerance.
  • Coordinate with site management, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Support temporary works requirements and ensure compliance with project procedures.
  • Maintain site records, daily reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

Requirements
Essential

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Proven experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong setting out experience.
  • Experience using Leica TS16 or similar robotic total station equipment.
  • Competent user of AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of drainage, earthworks, and infrastructure construction.

Desirable

  • Previous experience on river diversion, flood alleviation, water infrastructure, environmental, or heavy civils projects.
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • Temporary Works Awareness or Temporary Works Coordinator training.
  • Experience managing multiple work fronts simultaneously.
