Job Summary:

The Principal Estimator will play a key role in our pre-construction team, leading the estimation process for major projects. This role requires a deep understanding of construction costs, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of estimators. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids, ensuring the financial success of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive bid proposals and tender submissions, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of estimators, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Value Engineering: Provide value engineering options to clients to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on estimated costs, including breakdowns and justifications.
  • Compliance: Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimation, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead estimator role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam), and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and market conditions.
  • Certifications: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, AACE) are highly desirable.
  • Personal Attributes: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
