Loading shovel operator needed in Carlisle on a highways scheme

We’re currently looking for an experienced Loading Shovel Operator to join our busy site operations team in Carlisle for a short-term contract starting Wednesday 23rd April 2025. If you're reliable, safety-conscious, and confident behind the wheel, we want to hear from you.

Location: Carlisle
Start Date: 23rd April
Contract Length: 4–6 weeks
Working Hours: 50–55 hours/week
Pay Rate: £20 per hour

Job Description:
As a Loading Shovel Operator, your main task will be feeding bulk material into a hopper, supporting continuous site production. You’ll play a key role in the daily flow of operations.

Responsibilities include:
-Safely operating a loading shovel to load materials into the hopper
-Maintaining a consistent and steady feed to avoid stoppages
-Carrying out pre-start checks and basic maintenance on the machine
-Collaborating with site staff to ensure smooth and efficient workflow
-Keeping the loading area organised and clear of hazards
-Following all site health, safety, and environmental regulations

Requirements:
-Valid CPCS or NPORS (with CSCS logo) for loading shovel
-Safety Critical Medical – must be valid and in date
-Previous experience operating a loading shovel in a similar setting
-Good awareness of health & safety on active sites
-Able to commit to long hours over a 4–6 week period
-Own transport is beneficial due to site location
