Ground works based foreman required - Ross on Wye, Hereford
BCS Connect is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Groundworks Foreman to join a major residential development project in Ross-on-Wye.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on foreman with a strong background in groundworks and infrastructure management, ideally gained within the housebuilding sector. You’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency throughout all phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate all aspects of groundworks, including Section 278 works, roads, sewers, drainage, and associated infrastructure
• Manage site labour and subcontractors, ensuring all works are carried out to design specifications, programme deadlines, and budget constraints
• Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain a strong health and safety culture
• Oversee temporary works installations and ensure compliance with approved designs and procedures
• Liaise with engineers, site management, and client representatives to resolve any technical or site issues promptly
• Monitor progress, record site activities, and report updates to senior management
• Manage materials procurement, deliveries, and stock levels to ensure the smooth running of site operations
• Ensure all QA documentation, permits, and safety checks are completed accurately and on time
Requirements
Proven experience as a Groundworks Foreman or Site Manager within residential or infrastructure projects
Strong technical understanding of groundworks, drainage, and external works
Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors effectively
Qualifications
• SMSTS or CSCS Black Card (essential)
• Temporary Works Supervisor qualification (preferred)
• First Aid at Work certificate (essential)
• Full UK driving licence
Start Date: Monday 27th October
Location: Ross-on-Wye
Contract: 12-Month Freelance
Pay: £270–£290 per day
